Highway 147 Tournament Update
We hope everyone in our softball and our machine pitch and kid pitch baseball divisions enjoyed the first annual 147 Challenge with South Durham LL. The overall scoreboard can be found here:
2022 Highway 147 Tournament Scoreboard
Congratulations to BCLL softball for their 3-2 victory! Great job to all teams for bringing home the trophy (picture below).
Officially, the overall score is 13-10 SDLL. The first league to 15 claims the big trophy.
BCLL believes there is reason for optimism. There were two games started Saturday but interrupted by rain where BCLL holds leads -- BCLL's AAA Padres were up 9-5 in the 4th with 20-25 minutes left; BCLL's High A Cardinals were up 10-3 in the 3rd inning of their matchup. Two victories would make the overall score 13-12.
The immediate priority is for the three Majors division rainouts to finish their games: the Tigers, Orioles and Yankees were all called in the second inning Friday night. We are working with SDLL to find a time.
Once those games are complete (and the outcome is still in doubt), both leagues will turn their attention to the three outstanding games -- the two in-progress ones highlighted above, as well as BCLL's Rangers game in the high-A division.
BCLL is excited to see how things finish up.
We hope everyone felt the event was a strong addition to the BCLL spring calendar.
