Free pitching clinics at BCLL and SDLL for current softball players!

Bull City LL and South Durham LL are partnering on something new this fall to help both leagues develop pitching depth.

Both leagues are hosting free pitching clinics available to players from both leagues. The clinics will be offered on Wednesday evenings (at BCLL) and Saturday afternoons (at SDLL) throughout the fall. By offering clinics on two different days of the week, we hope that anyone who is interested in any age division will have a chance to attend and learn from our instructors.

MINORS
We encourage our Minors divisions to attend the clinics at BCLL on Wednesday evenings.  The first two will be led by former NC State pitcher Abby Trahan.  They are scheduled for Sept. 21 and 28, with sessions starting at 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm.

We are requiring two things:

1) To use the Signup Genius here so we can judge numbers: Softball pitching clinics
2) To have pitchers bring their own catcher to these clinics.  Preferably, this catcher is a parent/guardian/sibling that can also learn from these clinics so instruction can continue at home.

There will be two additional clinics on Oct. 12 and Oct. 19.  We will send out signups for these as soon as the instructor is finalized.

MAJORS
Since we anticipate playing Majors softball games vs. SDLL on Wednesday nights, the Softball Majors clinics will be on Saturdays at SDLL.  Kelsey Oonk, our softball friend at SDLL, helped organize these.  Information is as follows:

Clinics will be held on the following dates/times/locations:

- Saturday, September 10 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Parkwood Ballfield
- Saturday, September 17 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Parkwood Ballfield
- Saturday, October 1 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Parkwood Ballfield
- Saturday, October 29 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Hillside HS

- SDLL clinics will be led by Kate Clark, a former NCAA DI Softball player at Robert Morris University.

- All players are asked to bring their own catcher to these clinics -- preferably, this catcher is a parent/guardian/sibling that can also learn from these clinics so instruction can continue at home.

- All participants (players and their catcher) will be asked to sign a liability waiver prior to attending any clinics.

- There will be two sessions (one hour each) on every clinic date. The first hour of each session will be targeted toward beginning pitchers who have pitched for fewer than two seasons. The second hour of each session will be geared toward intermediate/advanced pitchers with 2+ seasons of pitching experience.

- We hope to not need to cap attendance at these sessions, though we may need to revisit this based on interest. For now, we do ask each family to RSVP for the clinics you plan to attend so that we can prepare for these sessions appropriately. If you plan to attend any sessions, please RSVP here

- Please note that there is no deadline to RSVP (e.g. you are welcome to RSVP for a clinic this weekend or next, then RSVP next month for the late October clinics).

We hope girls interested in pitching take advantage of these sessions.  Both SDLL and BCLL are committed to seeing the quality of its instruction improve -- we hope this is as step in that direction.
