Fall Champions Crowned!

Come-from-behind rallies. Ten-run-rule performances. Lots of offense. The fall season divisional championship games were nothing short of exciting - despite a rain-interrupted schedule.

After rain forced five championship games from Thursday and Friday to Monday and Tuesday, hardware was handed out in the High A, AA, AAA, Seniors and Softball Majors Divisions. 
 
Monday's action saw the Mariners (7-5) out-slug the regular season-champion Phillies (7-5) for an 11-6 win in a High A game that saw 36 combined hits. At that exact same time on Field 4, the Seniors game was decided by strong pitching as the Dodgers (4-5) arms combined to allow just four hits an in 8-4 upset over the top-seeded Giants (8-3). 

The softball majors rings went to the Ponytail Express (7-3) in a 16-12 shootout. The Sassy Slammers (8-2) held a 10-7 advantage after 4, but the 5th and 6th innings belonged to Ponytail Express as they came alive and outscored the Sassy Slammers 9-2 late in the come-from-behind championship win.


Closing out the fall season Tuesday was the AA and AAA divisions. The Rockies (9-4) got hot at the right time, winning their final four games to leap from the middle of the AAA pack to become AAA champions. Their exaltation point was a 16-6 win over the Rays (7-4-2) in the title tilt.

It was the Orioles (9-3) pulling away from the Braves (8-3-1) in the AA game, adding runs late in a 21-7 final. 

Wednesday, Nov. 13 got three games in before the weather. The Bull City Sluggers (9-1-1) capped an outstanding fall season with a 17-13 win in the championship game over the Thunder Kittens (3-9) behind a 3-for-3 night from Emory Sharp that included a single, double and home run.

On the baseball side, Low A and Rookie divisions also crowned champs on night one. 

The Brewers (10-2) rallied from 8-1 down in the 4th inning to pull off a 9-8 win over the Padres (5-6-1) in the Low A title tilt.

Meanwhile on the Rookie field, the Rockies (9-2-1) and Nationals (6-4-2) traded 5-run max innings in each of the first three frames. Headed to the fourth tied at 15, it was the Rockies that were able to make one more play on defense and scratch across that one run more in a wild 18-17 game.
