Pirates Win The Mayors Cup

AMERICAN LEAGUE

The Pirates (American League) finished an incredible 2021 Spring BCLL season in triumphant fashion, winning both the spring postseason tournament in addition to bringing the Mayors Cup back to Bull City Little League defeating South Durham Little League in a thriller.

The Pirates finished the BCLL regular season as the two seed, behind the regular season champion Dodgers. They then won the BCLL tournament championship 18-14, weathering a valiant comeback from the Angels. Grayson Wagner closed out the game on the mound for the Pirates, striking out the side to end the contest. 

A few days later in the Mayor’s Cup, the Pirates defeated the previously undefeated SDLL Blue Jays 6-4 at Herndon Park.  With the score tied 1-1 in the third inning, Owen Mah hit an inside-the-park grand slam to give the Pirates the lead. Tyler Kriston had two hits and drove in two runs for the Pirates.  On the mound, Charlie Matson pitched 4.2 innings for the Pirates, striking out eight and surrendering one earned run. The Pirates brought in Liam Hash to retire the final batter and clinch the victory for BCLL and bring the Mayors Cup back to Bull City.
