BCLL advances to District 6 title game in 10/11s
After an exciting 8-7 walk-off win against Wilson on Tuesday night, BCLL's 10/11 team will face Wilson on Wednesday night in the District 6 championship game. The winner advances to the state tournament.
BCLL rallied from an early 6-1 deficit, scoring five runs in the third to tie the score at 6.
Wilson then went ahead 7-6 in the fourth, although a key running catch from Andrew Riedel kept BCLL within one.
BCLL still trailed by one heading into the bottom of the sixth, but JP Rodio and Philip Daly led off with walks. Gavin Cook then hit a hard grounder to second that scored Rodio and tied the score. After two flyouts and a walk, BCLL won when Nello Caparoni took a walk on a 3-2 pitch, scoring Daly.
Daly and Cook had two hits a piece to lead BCLL. Cook, Daly and Rodio both reached base three times.
Everett Harmsen had a nice effort on the mound, retiring all seven batters he faced.
In other BCLL news, the 11/12 team put up a strong showing against South Durham before falling 7-3. BCLL either won or was in every game it played in the tournament. We are very proud of our oldest baseball players!
